The Esk Jockey Club will conduct their Celebration Series race day in mid-May each year with a scheduled program of five races. Somerset racing Bonanza Weekend
Part of the Somerset Racing Bonanza Weekend includes the Kilcoy Race Club conducting an eight race TAB program that is well supported by the racing fraternity and patrons of both Esk Jockey Club and Kilcoy Race club.
Both days have excellent prize money and the Somerset Regional Council is providing $1000 sponsorship to each race club to assist and has provided a $5000 incentive to be paid to the owners of all horse emerging victorious during the race meetings to be held in the Somerset Region over the Somerset Racing Bonanza Weekend at Esk and Kilcoy.
The Somerset Racing Bonanza Weekend, and the Celebration series will ensure excellent country racing, great food and refreshments, with a strong contingent of bookmakers operating to accommodate the punting fraternity.
All About Esk and Celebrations
Esk is fairly old and there are many historical buildings throughout the town. The Esk Jockey Club has operated for about 100 years. The Esk Racecourse is operated by the Esk Jockey Club and the racing program now includes a mixture of two Saturday non-TAB and eight midweek TAB meetings and an annual Celebration meeting in April.
Esk Racecourse facilities include bookmakers, TAB, bar facilities and catering facilities. Esk is located 110 km north-west of Brisbane and 70 km from Ipswich, and is one of those pleasant, green, leafy and historic towns which, although gracious and stylish, appears to be little more than a main street and a few houses. It nestles under Glen Rock and Mt Esk on the Brisbane Valley Highway.
Esk Racecourse has a track circumference of 1600 metres and has a home straight being 250 metres long. The track is of a square shape with a short straight and tight turns. There is a downhill run from the 800 metres mark. Inside barrier draws are of an importance at all starts.
